{"id":8675,"date":"2018-03-18T17:40:46","date_gmt":"2018-03-18T21:40:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savethebalafalls.com\/?p=8675"},"modified":"2018-03-18T17:45:21","modified_gmt":"2018-03-18T21:45:21","slug":"e-newsletter-march-18-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/savethebalafalls.com\/?p=8675","title":{"rendered":"e-Newsletter, March 18, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Doug Ford has visited Bala to support us, it\u00a0is now time for us to support Doug Ford<\/strong><br \/>\n We have learned that the proposed project to build a hydro-electric generating station at the Bala falls is all about politics and not about what makes sense for Ontario, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/savethebalafalls.com\/?p=8433\">article here<\/a> shows\u00a0that proposed renewable energy projects in Liberal ridings get cancelled, but those in PC ridings don&#8217;t.<br \/>\n \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The environmental assessment process has been a farce, and after two months of waiting\u00a0and after reminder e-mails, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change has still not responded to our letter noting that unsuspecting tourists would be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/savethebalafalls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/MurderedIn45Seconds,20180123.pdf\"><em>&#8220;Murdered in 45 Seconds&#8221;<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(more detail in our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/savethebalafalls.com\/?p=8590\">article here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/savethebalafalls.com\/?p=8670\">noted here<\/a>, Doug Ford visited Bala on February 27, 2018 and\u00a0stated if elected Premier, the proposed Bala project would be stopped. This doesn&#8217;t even have to cost Ontario, as all we need is for the MOECC to fulfill its mandate and protect human life by requiring the proponent to honour the commitments they made for their environmental assessment.<\/p>\n<p>Last\u00a0we checked:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is still wrong to drown unsuspecting tourists (the proponent could not adequately warn the public of the extreme dangers their proposed project would create, and the proponent refuses to show how they would even attempt to provide such warning).<br \/>\n \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>We still live in a democracy.
